On these webpages we tell about two Icelandic sagas; The Saga of the Greenlanders and The Saga of Eric the Red.  Those two sagas tell about when Nordic men discovered Canada and North America, around the year 1000.  They don't tell about this in quite the same way,  maybe because the stories survived orally for centuries and weren't written down until around they year 1200.  Nobody knows who wrote the Icelandic sagas.  Both of these two sagas tell about how brave the vikings were.
