It starts with a prologue where the creation of the world is described, along with the roots of religion and the old pagan gods, Aesir. The book is devided into three parts, after the prologue.
The first part,Gylfaginning, is supposed to be an introduction for young poets to myths and is our main source of information about Norse mythology. In the second part, Skaldskaparmal, origin of poetry is dealt with by the author. The 'kenning' and 'heiti' (a sort of metamorphosis) are explained with examples. It also tells of the gods and ancient heroes. The third part is the poem Hattatal, along with explanation. It counts 120 stanzas and shows the poetic-forms that Snorri knew.
