PLACES Born in Ireland, lived in Ireland and Iceland
FAMILY The daughter of King Myrkjartan of Ireland
STORY Melkorka was kidnapped by vikings when she was 15 years old.  Later  a man named Höskuldur bought her at a slave-market in Norway. She was the most expensive of all the bondmaids even if she didn´t speak and was regarded as being dumb. Höskuldur took her with him home to Iceland. She got pregnant and gave birth to a boy. He was named Ólafur pá. One day Höskuldur walked down to the infield to meet his son but when he was there he heard them speak to each other (it´s not known if they were speaking Icelandic or Irish) Höskuldur walked to her and started speaking to her. He found out that she was the daughter of Mýrkjartan  the King of Ireland. Jórunn who was Höskuldur's wife was not at all happy when she became aware that Melkorka was of royal descent.  So Melkorka and Jórunn became enemies and started to fight. Then Höskuldur built a house for Melkorka and  named it Melkorkustaðir.
Melkorka wanted to send her son Ólafur pá to Ireland to meet his grandfather and to get to know his family but Höskuldur didn´t want that so Melkorka got secretly married to Þorbjörn skrjúpur and he gave Ólafur pá enough money so he could go to Ireland. His grandfather Mýrkjartan,  the King of Ireland,  didn´t believe at first that Ólafur was his grandchild because he thought that his daughter was dead, but Melkorka had given Ólafur a golden ring that her father had given her when she was a child. This golden ring proved that Ólafur pá was his grandchild and his mother and Mýrkjartan's daughter was alive. Mýrkjartan and Ólafur pá liked each other and Mýrkjartan offered Ólafur pá the kingdom after his day but Ólafur turned it down. He was aware of that his uncles would hate him if he accepted Mýrkjartan's offer and that he could not control the kingdom if they hated him. Ólafur pá goes to Norway and then home to Iceland where he turned out to be one of the most respected man of his time.

Melkorka and Þorbjörn had a son named Lambi.
