Name of the woman:  Brynhildur Budladottir

Where did she come from?  She lived at Hindarfjall. She is said to have been the sister of Attila King of Huns.

Husband, children and things of value:  She was married to Gunnar Gjukason (brother of Gudrun).  She became the owner of a ring with evil spell on it for a short while.

A story of Brynhildur:  She dared her husband and his brother to kill King Sigurdur because he and Gunnar, her husband, had fooled her into marrying Gunnar:  Sigurdur rode through a wall of fire, disguised as Gunnar, to get to Brynhildur.  She was fast asleep inside her palace.  "Gunnar" woke her up and proposed to her.  They later got married and she thought that this had been the same man all the time.  When she found out that her husband was not the hero she thought him to be, she got very angry.  After Sigurdur's death Brynhildur committed suicide.
