WHAT HAPPENED:  Giulia was a francisca nun. She and her two assistants found a religious group called ‘La Confraternita’ [The Brotherhood].

The basic idea was that it exists a close link between mysticism and erotism, and namely you can get nearer to God through sex.

In a short time this religious sect  becomes very popular with all the levels of the Neapolitan society : from the poorest to the ruling class.

Suspecting eretical rites, however, they were reported to the Inquisition and the three were sent away from Naples after a public declaration be Giulia and her accomplices of her faults.
